Super Falcons star Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene fired Eskilstuna United into the winning ways against Djurgarden.
The 28-year-old scored the only goal in Eskilstuna United’s 1-0 home win over Djurgardens on Sunday in the Swedish Women’s Premier League.
Eskilstuna United have suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of Hammarby at home and recently at Vittsjö GIK on Monday. These problems will affect their chances of qualifying for the UEFA Women’s Champions League at the end of the season, with just nine matches remaining.
However, Okobi inspired Fredrik Bernhardsson’s women to come back to win in Tunavallen with his first-half finish.
The Nigerian international’s only goal came in the 37th minute from a free kick in the box, shortly after returning from international duty for Nigeria at the African Women’s Cup 2022 in Morocco.
The result means the Eskilstunas have reached their 10th win of the season.
The midfielder has five goals this season in 12 starts for the club this season, including three assists in the league.
After regaining her scoring boots, Okobi is expected to join up with the Super Falcons ahead of their tie with the US women’s team on September 3 and 6.
