According to the program, it is imperative that no one is left behind, especially those in vulnerable situations. The main social policy proposals are focused on protecting society that faces any situation of vulnerability that affects from childhood to the elderly.
The Popular Party will focus on the elderly care and the promotion of a healthy old age. One of the drivers of its strategy will be to finance and manage the aging of the population, approaching it from the Welfare State.
These are the key measures of the Popular Party’s program in terms of social policy:
- Aid against child poverty
- Improvement of the Minimum Vital Income
- Attention to unwanted loneliness
- Volunteer projects among 65-year-olds
- Early disability care for children under 6 years of age
Aid against child poverty
The priority of the Popular Party is fight child poverty. Working to promote and facilitate specific aid in the family sphere, promoting an active and coordinated collaboration with the European Union. In this sense, they advocate a rapid deployment of the European Child Guarantee throughout Spain, guaranteeing effective access to essential services for children from 0 to 3 years of age.
The party led by Feijóo is committed to ensuring that children who are in a vulnerable situation have access to school canteen, health services, adequate housing and adequate nutrition. Hence, the importance of the effective implementation of the European Child Guarantee, since it is crucial to provide children with the necessary conditions for healthy development and a dignified childhood.
Improvement of the Minimum Vital Income
According to the Popular Party, measures such as the implementation of the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) have failed to fulfill their important objective of reducing the risk of reducing povertyas denounced by AIREF. For the PP, it is evident that this initiative has not managed to provide the expected level of protection to the most vulnerable.
It is proposed a improvement of access to the Minimum Vital Income and its effectiveness as a tool for labor insertion, working jointly with the Autonomous Communities. To this end, measures would be put in place to increase the IMV compatibility with employment and training. Likewise, the Popular Party will implement additional bonuses in social contributions for those workers who decide to extend your working hours. In addition, it is proposed to establish a requirement to be able to receive the IMV. It will be the participation in itineraries of job placement.
With all these coordinated and complementary actions, it is expected to strengthen the impact of the Minimum Living Income as a temporary support that promotes the labor inclusion and allow individuals and families in vulnerable situations to achieve greater financial independence and social well-being.
