The Prosecutor’s Office denounces Barça and its former leaders for the Negreira case

The prosecution has made a complaint this Friday against FC Barcelona due to the alleged corruption that was made with the payments to the former vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) Jose Maria Enriquez Negreria. In this way, the institution wants to denounce a possible case of particular corruption in the sports field.

The complaint, consulted by Europa Press, It is also directed against Negreira himself, against the former Blaugrana presidents Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeuand the ex-directors of the club Oscar Grau and Albert Soler. In addition, the alleged crimes of corruption between individuals in the sports field, unfair administration and documentary falsification are denounced.

In its complaint, the Prosecutor’s Office maintains that FC Barcelona had a verbal and confidential agreement with the defendant to take advantage of the privileges that Negreria had due to his position in the Committee. In this way, favorable deals could have been made for the Barça club in exchange for monetary payments that would have influenced arbitration decision-making to alter the sporting results of said entity.

The investigation of the Negreira case It was opened last year and was extended until October to recognize what is the real involvement of the Catalan club in these operations that, according to the complaints, “studied referee neutrality.” However, the amounts of these operations exceeded one million euros, so there are great suspicions about the professionalism of the referees in the latest editions of La Liga.

Zero tolerance

For her part, the Minister of Justice, Pilar Llop has spoken in parliament on the controversy and stressed that ” tolerance for corruption is zero in any field, including, logically, sports when necessary”. In this way, the Government shows its support for the latest sports investigations.

However, Llop has also recognized that I was not up to date on the actions of the Public Ministry “The truth is that I have no information beyond what the media have said, but in any case if it is an investigation that is carried out within the prosecution, all due respect,” he said.
