He price of light tomorrow it will drop Thursday to 73.59 euros per megawatt hour (MWh). It represents a decrease of 25.61% compared to today’s 98.93 euros/MWh. Thus, electricity reaches the lowest price since January 29, when it was placed at 68.14 euros.

In the auction, the average price of light in the wholesale market -the so-called ‘pool’- stands for this Thursday at 73.59 euros/MWh. The minimum price, of 14 euros/MWh, It will take place between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. while the maximum price will be registered between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., when it will be 121.36 euros/MWh.

To this ‘pool’ price is added the compensation to the gas companies, which must be paid by the consumers benefiting from the measure, the consumers of the regulated rate (PVPC) or those who, despite being in the free market, have an indexed ratewhich for this Thursday will be at 0 euros/MWh for the eleventh consecutive day.

The 73.59 euros/MWh tomorrow are almost 85% lower than the price set on the same day last year, with 472.97 euros/MWh. One day after the historical record of March 8, 2022, when 544.98 euros/MWh were reached.

In this sense, the average price of electricity in the monthly accumulated for March stands at 128.26 euros/MWh, that is, about 0.70 euros lower than the average for 129.55 euros/MWh for the same period last month.The ‘Iberian mechanism’, which came into force on June 15, limits the price of gas for electricity generation to an average of 48.8 euros per MWh for a period of twelve months, thus covering the coming winter, period where energy prices are more expensive.

Specific, the ‘Iberian exception’ sets a path for natural gas for electricity generation from a price of 40 euros/MWh in the initial six months, and subsequently, a monthly increase of five euros/MWh until the end of the measure. Throughout the month the price will be 55 euros/MWh.
