Rent A Girlfriend season 3 was confirmed before the S2 finale

As mentioned earlier, Rent A Girlfriend season 3 was announced for TMS Entertainment, the entertainment house behind the anime adaptation earlier today.

The announcement was made via the official Japanese website alongside an exclusive YouTube trailer, see the end of this section.

“The third season of the TV anime has been decided! Exclusive Report Video” is now viewing! The second season of the TV anime “Kanojo, Oyasama” has reached its final episode. The decision to publish the the third episode of the TV anime was announced after the final TV broadcast at midnight on Friday, September 16!” – by Kanokari-official.

The announcement also included “The four people who signed the document this time are Amamiya Ten (Chizuru), Yuuki Aoi (Asami), Higashiyama Nao (Ruka), and Takahashi Riie (Sumi).”

While the update is welcome, many fans were not impressed with the announcement of the production decision. This is because there are many sources available from the original manga series to be adapted for television; this is often the case in new anime updates. Per Anime Geek, season 2 episode 12 ends with an adaptation of Volume 12 chapter 103 of Reiji Miyajima’s manga series.

The good news for fans is the 28thth The manga, which has a total of 246 chapters, was released domestically in Japan on September – the same date as the final season of the anime 2. In fact, if TMS Entertainment developed the entire manga series, there would be enough source material for five TV spots of the anime adaptation!

There were concerns before the announcement that the anime might not be popular enough to get a third television season. As reported by Anime Geek, season 2 of the anime failed to boost manga sales, which is a common feature of series that don’t return to television.

Internationally, the anime Rent A Girlfriend has seen a huge drop in popularity since its premiere. In fact, the series only managed to maintain a dismal 6.52/10 on MyAnimeList, 65% on Anilist and 3.6/5 on Anime Planet – all down from the first season in the year 2020.

This sentiment echoes the current review on MyAnimeList, which says: “I’m not suggesting you watch the second season because nothing has changed this time and I’d say no It happens, so if you’ve watched the first season, find something worth spending your time on.

“Overall, the anime is pretty bad. I don’t really have high hopes for the story. I only watch 1.5x because I think the girl’s story and the drive for her passion should be good. I’d rather see her go on to become an actress than this romance with three lovers. If that tells you anything about how bad the writing is. You can Submit this if you can’t port or regret it.– User review, via MAL.

When will season 3 come out?

While Rent A Girlfriend 3 has been officially updated, there is no official word on a scheduled release window; however, we can make some predictions based on the production changes of S1-2.

The anime was first announced in December 2019 and will begin in July 2020. Season 2 has just been renewed a few weeks before the end of the first season in September 2020 – featuring the Popularity of the first broadcast worldwide.

However, TMS Entertainment is already set to release Dr. Stone season 3 and Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles season 2 in 2023. This will likely push Rent A Girlfriend down the list of main projects. as we head into the new year.

Based on TMS Entertainment’s current schedule and long after the renewal announcement, fans will see the return of Rent A Girlfriend with season 3 in October 2023 or January 2024.
