There is no news, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the Governor of Rivers state, Governor Nyesom Wike could not resolve their grievances.

Remember, the conflict between the two leaders started when Atiku chose Governor Okowa as his running mate, ahead of the 2023 presidential elections.

The leaders of the party, the nomination committee to choose the vice presidential candidate for the party and the committee recommended Governor Nyesom Wike but Atiku chose Governor Okowa.

The PDP presidential candidate was recently reported to have met with Governor Wike and other disgruntled PDP Governors in London.

Premium Times gathered that Atiku and Governor Wike met for dinner on the parkway at Carlton Hotel, London.

Among the Governors who also attended the meeting, were Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state and the Governor of Benue state, Governor Samuel Ortom.

The governors demanded six things from the party’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Among the things, Atiku said, is to produce the next president of the Senate if the party wins in 2023 Atiku will stay for one term and send it to the south.

Remember, Governor Wike had earlier called for the national chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu to step down as chairman of the party.

Although, some party leaders have expressed their opinion that Ayu’s resignation will deepen the crisis facing the party.

However, some party leaders have urged Ayu to resign as PDP chairman for the benefit of the party.

One of the leaders of the party, who urged Ayu to leave his post as PDP chairman for the benefit of the party, is the party’s communications secretary in Rivers state, Tambari Sydney Gbara.

Tambari said the calls for Ayu’s resignation are uncalled for, and in keeping with the provisions of the PDP constitution, it is illegal for any part of the country to produce the national chairman and party presidential candidate.

Gbara said: “2007 and 2008, when President Musa Yar’adua emerged as the standard bearer of the PDP and Colonel Ahmadu Ali (retd), he was the national chairman of the party should resign and called the mini-meeting immediately, to vote. Prince Vincent Ogbulafor from the south, to decide the balance on the leaders of the party. So he said, if this goes to that time, what why is it different now?

Speaking on Saturday, Gbara reiterated that Wike is the leader of the party in the state therefore, Rivers PDP will always support the decisions he makes.

Another PDP leader, who called for Ayu to resign as party chairman, is a friend of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, Dare Adeleke.

Mr Adeleke called for Ayu’s resignation and advised all stakeholders in the party to find a way to resolve all the thorny differences through peaceful negotiations rather than confrontation.

Adeleke, who is the chairman of Oyo pace-setter Transport, told journalists during the week in Ibadan, that Ayu’s resignation should give way to justice and fairness.

He mischaracterized the former Governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido in approaching the issues by attacking the Governor of Rivers state, Governor Nyesom Wike.

It should be remembered that Lamido recently wronged Governor Wike, who is not in control of the constituencies in the state, as he will no longer be politically relevant at the end of his tenure.
