The destinations chosen by residents in Spain are Andalusia (22.4%), Catalonia (13.3%) and the Valencian Community (12.6%). For their part, non-residents mostly preferred the Balearic Islands, with 33.7% of total overnight stays, the region that also had the highest occupancy rate by bedplaces during September, up to 78.2% of the total. The tourist areas of Palma and Calvià were the ones with the highest occupancy rate, with 80.2% in total and 82.8% on weekends. The island of Mallorca registered the highest number of overnight stays in September, exceeding 6.5 million.
