Ferrovial is shaping up to win a 621 million contract from Adif

The multinational transport and mobility infrastructure company, Ferrovial, as part of a Temporary Business Union (UTE) with Comsa and FCC Construcción, has managed to achieve the best technical score in an Adif contract in Barcelona valued at 621 million euros.
Adif has published this Thursday the minutes of the opening of the offers for the authorization and execution of the works of the construction projects of the burial of the R-2 line of Rodalies de Barcelona as it passes through the town center of Montcada i Reixac.
The Ferrovial-Comsa-FCC Construcción score amounts to 47.98 pointscompared to 47.64 for the OHLA-Sacyr-Acciona-Rubau joint venture, 43.46 for Dragados (ACS)-Tecsa-ACSA-San José and 37.86 for Vías y Construcciones (ACS)-Copisa-Azvi and Engineering and Services.
However, the best economic offer it is that of OHLA-Sacyr-Acciona-Rubau (418 million euros), in contrast to the 447 million of that of Ferrovial-Comsa-FCC Construcción. Some Adif sources have explained to Europa Press that the contract has not been awarded or pre-awarded and they also confirmed that the formal process to assess all aspects of the offers presented now begins. In the economic evaluation report of the offers, it will be determined if there is any reckless withdrawal, in which case the justification of each proposal will be requested and a decision adjusted to the law will be made.
“The process followed by Adif to award the works for the underground construction projects of the Rodalies de Barcelona line R2 as it passes through the urban area of Montcada i Reixac and the new station is transparent and objective and meets all technical and legal criteria. The information on the tender for this contract is public throughout the entire process and has all the Spanish and European legal guarantees,” the railway infrastructure administrator has insisted.
Ferrovial maintains other contracts with Adif
The last major contract awarded by Adif to Ferrovial was the expansion of the A Coruña intermodal stationfor an amount of 72.5 million euros and an execution period of 42 months, this was agreed last October.
In the last two years, Ferrovial has won different tenders from the public railway infrastructure manager, such as the renewal of the Madrid-Seville high-speed line for 136 million, maintenance of the tracks in the Northwest for 68 million, the construction of the Oural tunnel (Lugo) for 51 million, or auxiliary external services in stations for 24 million, in some cases in consortium with other companies.
In case of winning this last contract in Barcelona, the company continues with its commitment to the continuity of its activity in Spain, something to which it has committed despite the transfer of its headquarters to the Netherlands.
