Ceuta recovers cruise traffic with 21,000 tourists and improves pre-pandemic figures


The port of the Autonomous City of Ceuta has achieved recover cruise traffic after the pandemic and has even improved the historical figures, having already exceeded 21,000 tourists arriving on these ships in the first four months of the year as a result of the eleven recorded stopovers in this period, according to the data provided to EFE by the Port Authority.

Eleven stopovers in four months

The first of the recorded calls was on January 14 with the MSC Lírica, which made eight more with an average of 2,000 tourists in each of them. These were joined by the stopover on March 30 of the Norwegian Sun ship and on April 18 with the MS Arcadia ship of the shipping company P&O Cruises, each of them with about 1,900 passengers on board.

This circumstance is allowing the port of Ceuta reach their best numbers yearly, thanks to the agreement reached with the MSC shipping company, which has included the city this season on its Mediterranean routes.

The year 2022, the city closed the cruise statistic cwith only 5 stopsin 2021 there were 3 stopovers, none in 2020 as a consequence of the Covid-19 and 6 stopovers in 2019. The Ceuta region recorded the highest number of annual stopovers in 2016 with 17 berths, although the most important year was 2007 with 25 stopovers.
