Calviño reiterates the Government’s support for Aragon to host the new Tata factory
The First Vice President and Minister for Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, reiterated this Saturday in Zaragoza the support of the Government of Spain so that Aragón becomes the headquarters of the new battery factory of electric vehicles raised by the Tata group and recalled that in the coming days there will be a call for the Perte dedicated to this issue, for 850 million euros.
Calviño has made these statements to the media during his visit to the Mobility City spacelocated in the Zaha Hadid Bridge Pavilion, where she has been accompanied by the Minister of Education and head of the PSOE list for Zaragoza in the next general elections to be held on July 23, Pilar Alegría.
The person in charge of Economy has related that, in a meeting with the president of the Tata group, she bet “because Aragón isBe the site of your next battery factory”, because in his opinion it is a territory “that has all the advantages” to become the headquarters of this factory. However, and regarding the possible deadlines to find out what option the Indian firm adopts, Calviño has indicated that the company “it will have its own calendar to make the decision.”
“What I can guarantee you is that the Government of Spain has been on the side of Aragon, betting that it is here where the next battery factory is installed of Tata”, insisted the minister.
Stellantis Battery Factory
In addition, and about the possibilities that the Stellantis factory in Figueruelas (Zaragoza) welcome the battery factory proposed by this groupto which its installation in Vigo also opts, the minister has reiterated that Aragon will be supported “as one of the centers of electric and connected vehicles” in the country.

Calviño recalled that the call for the s will arrive in the coming daysSecond phase of the Part of the electric vehicle and connected, the amount of which amounts to 850 million euros and which will be used for the installation and deployment of battery factories.
In fact, the Ministry of Industry already published on July 7 the bases for the granting of aid to projects to promote the value chain of electric and connected vehicles and the call to which Calviño has referred, whose aid may be requested from July 17 to September 15.
Regarding the new call for the Perte, he explained that “the different projects for the installation and construction of battery factories will have to be presented” and, since it is a open convocatoryhas added that it is not possible to prejudge “what will be the projects that obtain this financing”.
In addition, he has indicated that the dialogue maintained by the Ministry of Industry with the large assemblers in Spain “is constant” and that from the Executive “always” support “the installation of investments”. Something they do with “a clear commitment to Aragon”, which is one of the communities “that has a leadership position throughout the value chain to produce that electric and connected vehicle of the future”, he insisted.
