Eight bills passed by the National Assembly recently have received the assent of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired).

This was disclosed by Nasiru Baballe Ila, Senior Special Assistant to the President on House of Representatives, in a statement issued on Monday.

The following eight bills, which were passed by the National Assembly, received the assent of His Excellency, President and Chief of Army Staff of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR:

“The Civil Aviation Act, 2022: This Act repeals the Civil Aviation Act, No. 6, 2006, and enacts the Civil Aviation Act, 2022, to provide an effective legal and regulatory framework for the management of airlines in Nigeria to make it possible. promoting the safety and security of aviation, ensuring the implementation of Nigeria’s obligations under international aviation agreements, and harmonizing the law relating to aviation regulations in Nigeria; provide a legal and regulatory framework for the management of civil aviation in Nigeria in accordance with the standards and procedures set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO); and establish regulatory rules and divisions of responsibilities in the Nigerian civil aviation system to promote aviation safety and security; ensure the implementation of Nigeria’s obligations under international aviation agreements; and unify the laws relating to the regulation of aviation in Nigeria.

“The Nigerian Meteorological Agency Regulation (Establishment) Act, 2022: This Act repeals the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (Establishment, etc.) Act, No. 9 of 2003 and enacts the Nigerian Meteorological Agency Act (Opening), to provide the legal and administrative framework for the regulation of meteorology in Nigeria; advise the State Government on all aspects of meteorology; project, prepare and interpret the government policy in the field of weather; and issuing weather forecasts for the safe operation of aircraft, ships and oil tankers in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Standard and Recommended Practices (SARPs);

The Agency is empowered under this Act to authorize, license, certify and regulate the establishment of meteorological stations for meteorological observations, including the management and administrative staff of fee to be determined by the Agency. The Agency may also, if necessary, make regulations in this area, except for air services.

It continued, “The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (Enactment) Act, 2022: This Act repeals the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria Act Cap. P17 Rules of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and enacts the Pharmacy Council Act of Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2022, which, among other things, regulates and regulates the education, training, and practice of medicine and related matters in Nigeria.

“The Nigerian Council for Organizational Development Act, 2022: This Act enacts the Council for Organizational Development Act, 2022, and repeals the Nigerian Organizational Development Act, Cap. N99, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and the National Center for Economic and Administrative Law, Cap. N14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

“National Institute of Credit Administration (Establishment) Act, 2022: This Act establishes the National Institute of Credit Administration to administer credit administration procedures and to set standards and qualifications to be met by persons who have to become a professional credit manager in Nigeria by providing a range of services and programs aimed at keeping Nigerian credit managers and their managers up-to-date by developing their professional skills, and increase their power.

“The Social Work Practitioners Act, 2022: This Act makes the Institute of Social Work Practitioners responsible for the training and registration of persons who wish to become social work practitioners in Nigeria and the standards of knowledge and skills to be acquired by persons seeking to be registered as certified social workers, and to raise such standards as circumstances permit; to maintain, in accordance with the provisions of this Act, the establishment and maintenance of the register of corporate members, partners, associates and honorary members, and the publication of the list of registered members; building professional skills and providing professional guidance to members for improving services in selected areas of the Institute’s professional activities; creating and promoting professional understanding of social work; provide a forum for the interaction of social work workers and cooperation with individuals, groups and business groups interested in social work with the aim of sharing professional and technical skills, experiences, benefits and research findings for the advancement of professional social work; and provide professional skills and guidance to members who work with people who will work as social workers; and publish a manual of rules of conduct to stimulate the professional activities of the members of the University.

The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria Act, 2022, replaces the Advertising (Registration, etc.) Act, Cap. A7, Constitution of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and established a Council for Advertising, Media and Marketing Information as the main regulatory body for the Nigerian media industry. It also makes arrangements for managing and managing advertisements.

“The Nigerian Counselors Act, 2022, creates the organization and mandate to advance the study, organization and practice of the counseling profession. Establish and maintain, in accordance with the provisions of this Act, a register of authorized members of the Profession and the publication of the list of such members. Determine the standard of knowledge and skills, to be met by persons seeking admission as registered members for the Counselor Award, and to review the standard as needed.

“The Constitution also gave the Council the power to maintain its professional standing and to perform such other duties as may be necessary to promote the interests of its members, the art and science of counseling, and effectiveness of management advice and management in the entire nation. and specific sectors of the Nigerian economy.
