Angela Kelly has been the Queen’s personal dresser for over two decades and is known as her ‘closest confidante.’

Kelly had an important role as the Queen’s dresser. His official title was “Personal Assistant, Counselor, and Conservator to the Queen (Jewels, Badges, and Accessories).”

In addition to her royal duties, Angela Kelly was seen with the Queen on several occasions outside the palace. This included London Fashion Week in 2018 where she sat alongside Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Who is Angela Kelly?

Mary Angela Kelly is a famous British fashion designer, dress maker, and dairy. He joined the Queen’s wardrobe after an interview at Windsor Castle in 1994.

Angela Kelly was reportedly interviewed by none other than Susan Hussey’s queen-in-waiting.

In the following decades, he made some of the most famous dresses for the Royal Family. Including (but not limited to) the Queen’s dress for the wedding of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and Catherine Middleton and the replica of the royal christening gown. And Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s dresses for Zara Phillips’ wedding and more.

Alongside her royal duties, Kelly also co-founded the fashion label Kelly & Pordum, with Alison Pordum. Alison also served as the royal’s maid of honor until 2008.

A look at Angela Kelly’s honors

As a key employee of the late owner, Angela Kelly has received many accolades over the years. He was appointed a Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO). Angela later rose to the rank of Lieutenant of the Order (LVO).

He was also awarded the Royal Household Long and Faithful Service Medal in 2014 for his service to The Queen and the Royal Family for more than two decades.

How Angela Kelly Stayed Loyal to the Queen

According to reports, Angela Kelly was very close to the Queen. He once said in an interview, “I love the Queen and everything about her.”

He told the Telegraph, “She (the Queen) has allowed me to be close to her over the years. I will never break the sign and I will always be in awe of the Queen.

The head of state is said to have asked Kelly to be near him at Windsor Castle just three months before his death.

His closeness to the Queen is reflected in his exclusive rights to a three-book contract where the designer talks about his life as a Royal Dressmaker. Two of the published books are named Dressing the Queen: The Dress Up a The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the DresserDaily Mail reports.
