The teenagers, eight-year-old twins Chelsea and Christy Cawley and their sister Lisa Cash, 18, were stabbed by a 25-year-old man at their family home in Jobstown, Tallaght in the morning this morning, Sunday, September 4.

A Garda spokesman said this evening: “Gardaí in Tallaght are continuing to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Lisa Cash, Christy, and Chelsea Cawley at a house in Rossfield Estate, Tallaght, on Sunday . Their mother, a woman in her 40s, has been released from hospital and is currently being supported by her family. The Family Liaison Officer is still talking to her about the progress of this investigation.”

THREE teenagers who were stabbed to death in a horrific incident in Tallaght overnight have been named. Twins Christy and Chelsea Cawley (8) and their sister Lisa Cash (18) died after a violent attack at their Rossfield home shortly after midnight.

A suspect known to the victims, aged in his 20s, was arrested at the scene after members of the Armed Support Unit (ASU) were assaulted using non-lethal weapons. The victim’s younger brother, a 14-year-old, was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In this episode, it is believed that all four brothers were stabbed by someone they know who used a large bladed instrument. Gardaí released photographs of the three brothers on Sunday evening.

Neighbors at the Rossfield home in Brookfield this morning expressed shock over the victims, reporting hearing screams coming from the house shortly after midnight. A neighbor said they heard a woman’s voice screaming “help me” and the sound of windows breaking before gardai arrived at the scene.

In a statement on Sunday evening, gardaí said the victim’s mother, aged in her 40s, had been released from hospital and was being supported by family members. “The Family Liaison Officer is keeping him informed of the progress of this investigation,” gardaí said. “Their younger brother (aged 14) remains in Tallaght University Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

“The scene remains open for analysis by the Garda Technical Service. “Post-mortems will be carried out on the bodies this evening and tomorrow by State Pathologist Sally Anne Collis.

The man in his early 20s was arrested at the scene and remains in custody under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Tallaght Garda Station. The suspect was arrested shortly before 1 a.m. by members of the Armed Support Unit and detained at Tallaght garda station. Emergency crews fought desperately to save the three brothers, but they were pronounced dead.

Gardaí are today carrying out door-to-door searches while officers investigate the scene. Several broken windows were found in the front of the home including an upstairs and front room window.

Gardaí said they were continuing to investigate all the details surrounding the incident at the home in Rossfield Estate, Tallaght on Sunday. In a statement on Sunday evening, St Aidan’s Senior National School, which Chelsea and Christy attended, expressed their sympathy for the incident.

“We are deeply saddened by the events that have taken place over the past few weeks,” the school said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the deceased. “As a school, our priority is to take all measures to meet the needs of our students and their families during this trying time. ”
